About the Relationship of Humility and Pride
Smetana, Pavel ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Blažková, Miloslava (referee)
This thesis deals with the research of humility from the view of its elusiveness - it does not define humility and it also does not even try to do so. Conversely, it walks around the phenomenon of humility and points at it in different ways. It uses examples, mostly from works of Comenius, and builds it with parallels from works of Jung, Foucault, Jünger, Drewermann and some other authors. It delimits humility against pride at example of different view of "epoché" in works of Comenius and Descartes; pride is basicly seen where human does not leave any unnaturalness and completely absorbs the world by his own opinion; work also uses Husserl's criticism of Descartes' view of "epoché" and Comenius' criticism of Machiavelli is also mentioned. Thence, the thesis sees the principle of humility in a close relation with the principle of faith or simply with the knowledge of the principle of some higher instance than the human's own sense is. The principle of humility is also nearby to the principle of grace - for this example the thesis researches Simone Weil's concept of "weight and grace"; grace from this point of view is an unpredictable step outside the performance-based part of human life. This thesis deals with mentioned phenomenons at first at the level of the visions of the world, later at the...

Problem of Grace in St. Augustin
Spiegelová, Veronika ; Rybák, David (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with St. Augustine and his theology of grace. It briefly introduces the context of Augustine's philosophy, explains the basic terms, and mainly focuses on the interpretation of Augustine's study of grace. It first analyses the thoughts and ideas of Saint Paul, the Apostle, which are relevant to the subject. Then it moves on to explaining the continuous development of Augustine's study of grace: how it is portrayed in his early works, the way in which it developed in his argument with Pelagius, and finally it introduces Augustine's most radical idea - the concept of predestination from his work To Simplician. The last part of the thesis covers the corresponding topic of love, specifically the love of neighbour, as it is discussed by Hannah Arendth in her work Love and Saint Augustine.
Austfonna Glacier Ice Sheet Variation Monitoring Using GRACE and GRACE-FO Data
Korekáčová, Barbora
GRACE and GRACE-FO satellite missions provide important data necessary for temporal gravity field variation modelling. The main cause of Earth’s gravity field variations monitored by GRACE and GRACE-FO is the motion of Earth masses. To assess the ice mass variations, we have to correct the measured gravity signal for land hydrology variations and effect of post-glacial isostatic rebound. This paper describes the computational process of ice mass variations in Austfonna glacier ice cap. A total of 198 monthly GRACE and GRACE-FO global geopotential models, global hydrological model GLDAS NOAH and GIA model forced with ICE-5G global ice loading history were used to estimate the value of quadratic trend in terms of equivalent water height.
Neighbour in the parables of Luke as motivation for social work with seriously mentally impaired persons
Bačová, Libuše ; Roskovec, Jan (advisor) ; Janečková, Hana (referee)
The present thesis connects two areas of studies: social work and theology. It gathers findings gained in social work targeted to people with mental handicap (with special focus on those with heavy forms of mental handicap), findings from socio-psychological studies of human motivation, and from theological analysis of the Gospel of Luke and its parables, and subsequently it endeavours to interconnect these findings. It pursues therein the question of utilising theological knowledge in forming motivation for engagement in social work. The focusing element of this interdisciplinary thesis is the theologically profiled concept of neighbour, which is eventually brought into relation with motivation to perform social work with the mentioned focus group.
